John Williams Patterson

On the morning of Thursday, September 28, 2023, an angel of peace came quietly to the home of our dearly departed John William Patterson. He was known to his friends and family as JW, Mule, or “J”.  

He was born to the late Robert Early Patterson, Sr. and Lillie Pearl Patterson on March 28, 1961 in Rocky Mount, Virginia. He gave his life to God and joined Faith Fellowship Church later in his life. 

He was proceeded in death by his father, Robert Early Patterson, Sr; mother Lillie Pearl Patterson; four sisters, Patricia Patterson, Rachel Patterson, Elizabeth Tyree, and Doris Allen, two brothers-in-law Ronald Hicks and Patrick Helms, one sister-in-law Audrey Patterson, one nephew James “Junie” Patterson and one niece Tina Dillon.  

He leaves to cherish three brothers Robert (Mary Ellen) Patterson, Jr., Henry (Dinah) Patterson, and Bobby Patterson all of Rocky Mount, VA; four sisters, Mary Helms, Linda Hicks, Tracy Patterson, and Brenda Gill all of Rocky Mount, VA; one brother-in-law Leonard Allen; one special nephew Germaine Tyree of Rocky Mount, VA; six nieces Locresha (Quan) Goodman of Roanoke, VA, Porchae (Aaron) Jenkins of Salem, VA, Angelica (Kenneth) Witcher Walker of Roanoke, VA, Tabitha Allen of Roanoke, VA, Faith Allen of Roanoke, VA, and Rhonda (Todd) Crook of Glade Hill, VA; special friends Silas Martin of Hope Mills, NC, James Martin of Roanoke, VA, Chin Holland of Rocky Mount, VA and Terry Witcher of Glade Hill, VA; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
