Obituary
Lawrence Wayne Patterson was born on June 8, 1959, in Franklin County, Virginia. He was the tenth child born to the late James Willie, SR and Lizzie Ann Gilbert-Patterson.
Lawrence had a strong work ethic and worked many years at Erath Veneer Corporation and other various companies within the region, after being educated in the Franklin County Public School system. He loved his family and friends with his whole heart, and he was always willing to help. His favorite quote that he strived to live by is, “Do at least one good deed a day”. At family gatherings, he was the life of the party, always bringing his cheerful smile and heart-warming charm.
Preceding him in death were four brothers; James Willie “Junebug,” Patterson JR, Robert “John William” Patterson, Melvin Lee Patterson, and Curtis Patterson; five sisters, Martha Jane Patterson, Mae Deloris Patterson, Angela Logan, Nancy K. Mack, and Patricia Harper; two nieces, Tasha Nicole Pace and Me’Sharra Letrell Patterson.
Those left to rejoice in his memory are his son, Demetrius Snow; two grandchildren, Brooklynn and Kyson Shumaker of Roanoke, VA; three sisters, Ethelene (John) Stanley of Rocky Mount, VA, Wanda (Jesse) Cook of Ferrum, VA, Pamela (James) Palmer of Glade Hill, VA; one brother, Michael Patterson SR of Glade Hill, VA; an uncle, Thomas Gilbert SR of Rocky Mount, VA; an Aunt, Martha Ann Gilbert of Rocky Mount, VA; one sister-in-law, Angela W Patterson; three brothers-in-law, James Mack and Moses Logan both of Rocky Mount, VA, and Walter Harper of Wirtz, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; three young people dear to his heart Chris, Jason, and Heather.
