Lillie Young Reeves

Lillie Young Reeves, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her residence on August 6, 2023. Born on April 19, 1923, a centenarian (100 years young) Lillie was blessed to experience life at its fullest with her kind heart and beautiful style.

Family meant everything to Lillie. Married 80 plus years to her late husband AJ Reeves, together they raised two children whom she adored dearly until her passing. Lillie instilled in them a sense of love, kindness, and integrity that will carry on as part of her enduring legacy.

Outside of being a dedicated homemaker and mother, Lillie was a renowned seamstress and made most all of her, and her late husband’s clothing while also providing sewing alterations as needed to family, friends, and neighbors. Lillie was very involved in her church and community. Those who were fortunate enough to have experienced Lillie's cooking will never forget the incredible meals she prepared with love and care. Her kitchen was always filled with warmth and delicious aromas, and her recipes will be passed down through generations as a reminder of her culinary prowess.

Lillie's favorite color was pink as demonstrated in her garments as well as in her beautiful garden, which mirrored her own vibrant spirit and taking great pride in sharing the fruits of her labor with friends and family.

Lillie Young Reeves was known for her warm smile and gentle nature, and touched the lives of all those who knew her. She leaves behind a treasured legacy and will be dearly missed but will forever be remembered in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing her, and experiencing her unmatched seamstress abilities, and culinary skills.  A pillar of strength for her family, and a beacon of compassion for her community, Lillie had the remarkable ability to make everyone feel valued and loved.

A celebration of Life for Ms. Lillie Young Reeves will be August 14, 2023. The service will take place at the Pigg River Community Building, located at 2410 South Main Street in Rocky Mount, VA. Friends and family are invited to gather and visit at 11:00 AM to pay their respects, with the service following at 12:00 PM.

 A community viewing will be held at Stanfield Mortuary Service on Sunday August 13, 2023, from 12-7 PM. Interment Reeves Family Cemetery. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
