Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8 NLT
In his timing, God decided to take Mary Francoise Mattox from her earthly body into his presence Tuesday, June 4, 2024. Though she has left this earthly body she is rejoicing in heaven with God. No more pain, no more confusion, no more of this world but in the arms of Jesus.
Mary Francoise was born June 6, 1943 and grew up in a home full of love with her mother Annie Mae Smith and Paul William Smith, who preceded her in death. Though she had no biological sisters, the Lord blessed her to have a devoted friend and sister in Christ, Joan Mattox and best friend, Barbara Jamison.
She graduated from Lee M. Waid High School. She was a loyal employee for JD Bassett, Plygem and Walmart. She joined Faith Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Superintendent Elder David A. Powell, Sr. and accepted her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Mary Francoise was the Mother of the Church, a prayer warrior, a praiser and a cheerful giver to her church and others. She served the church in many areas. She was someone who never met a stranger and had a willingness to help wherever it was needed.
Mary Francoise was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. Leaving to cherish her memories are: former husband, James William Mattox, Sr., six children, Sherry Vanessa Gravely, Kevin Mattox (Renee), Jennifer Mattox, James (Junior) Mattox (Corinna), Eugenia (Cookie) Mattox all of Rocky Mount, Virginia and Christopher Mattox of Richmond, Virginia.
