OBITUARY

Beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend

On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, God in his infinite wisdom saw fit to call Molly Rachelle Hughes Alcorn from her earthly home to her heavenly home. She was born in Franklin County on January 27, 1964 to the late Rosie Ann Mattox Hughes and James Hughes. Preceded in death by sisters Brenda Michelle Hughes Lumpkins and Sheila Marie Hughes and son Clinton Oshae Hughes.

Molly received her education in Franklin County Public Schools. Molly loved life and was a joy to be around. Over time Molly became a quiet spirit and you listened when she spoke because her words would be few and straight to the point. She had a love for word search books and you knew where to find her when you came to visit.

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31) Molly chose to believe the report of the Lord on many occasions when dealing with sicknesses. She fought the good fight and lived years beyond what was said by man. Her life is a testimony to how man says one thing, but God has the final say and all things are in his timing.

Those left to cherish her memories are: devoted friend Israel Yarborough; sons Jefferey Hamilton (Shannon) and Robert Hamilton of Winston-Salem, NC; grandchildren, Briannan, Aubrey, Quentin and Marcus Hamilton, Trey and Troy Hamilton and Xavier Oshae Hughes; three sisters; Freda Gail Muse, Chris Regina Hughes, and Mary Elizabeth Hughes all of Rocky Mount, VA; one aunt Bessie Mattox Cook and three uncles; Sandy Joe (Mildred), John Henry and James (Jay) Mattox, Sr. all of Rocky Mount; best friend Ada Claybrooks and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
