Wyneater Ross Dodson

Wyneater Ross Dodson, 72, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Monday, November 4, 2024. She was born on January 26, 1952 in Bassett, Virginia, to the late Posey Ross and Mayomie Ross. 

In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her sisters, Mary Geraldine Dodson, Goldie Doretha Walker, Ocie Ross and Flora Craighead; brothers, Thomas V. Ross, Jesse Ross, Edward Posie Ross, and Stanford Lee Ross; grandson, Triston Dodson, parents-in-law, James and Novella Dodson.

Wyneater was a faithful member of Shiloh Way of the Cross Church of Christ of the Apostolic Doctrine. She was a 1970 graduate of George Washington Carver High School. She was employed by Bassett Industries, Tultex, and retired from Carter Bank & Trust Bank Services.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her husband, Herman Dodson of the home; sons, Derwin (Lucinda) Dodson, Brian Dodson and Clayton Dodson; Grandchildren, Krisenda Humphrey, Kaih Dodson, Kevin Dodson, Kristian Dodson, Jaden Dodson, Kassidy Dodson and Cheyelle Dodson; Great-grandchildren, Kryslynn Henderson, Koryn Henderson, Kendall Haywood, Asia Hopkins; sisters, Bonnie James (Wayne), Susan Warren; brothers, James Ross, Larry Ross, Jerry Ross (Titishia); sisters-in-law, Lillie Mae Ross, Betty Ross; her Dodson Family siblings, Anita (Vester) Scales, Janice (Bishop Earley) Dillard, Beverly (John) Millner, Phyllis Hairston, Cindy (Bishop Kenneth) Lucas, Lynwood (Wanda) Dodson, Renee (Robert) Mosley, Keith Dodson, Ervette (Jeff) Hylton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Shiloh Way of the Cross Church of Christ, 938 Brookdale St, Martinsville, VA. A visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the service. A floating visitation for the public will be Friday, November 8, 2024, from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM at Shiloh Way of the Cross Church of Christ.

The family is receiving extended family and friends at 3625 Figsboro Rd, Martinsville, VA between the hours of 1 and 5 pm.
